SLR Project: An exhibition of photography

A group photography exhibition by Libby Bellhouse, Clive Bunting, Paulo Kosinski, Kerry Taylor, Andrew McCuthion and Dave Walker.

The participants have all benefitted from a photography course delivered by Sue Hamilton and Paulo Kosinski from Untapped, in partnership with Vita Nova, funded by the Big Lottery.

The photography in the exhibition ranges from intimate portraits that give an insight into the lives of people in recovery to documenting our local environment to photography that visually supports the written word. The purpose of the project was to increase creative confidence and give the participants a voice, with the aim of reducing the stigmatisation of people overcoming drug, alcohol and mental health problems in our local community.

The exhibited work will serve as a tool for greater community cohesion, giving local people an insight into the lives of people in recovery.

Through working on this project, it is hoped that the photographers will have had the opportunity to break down some of the barriers that exist within the local area- by celebrating positive stories and talent of people in recovery, reminding people of the human potential for change.
