Stags & Hens 2013

Stags & Hens (2013) will be Theresa Bruno’s debut real time orchestrated performance. She has focused on the stag and hen party culture which is stereo-typically associated with Bournemouth’s national identity.

The stag and hen is usually represented in a conceptual sense when people have pre-wedding parties, man as stag, woman as hen. She has taken the symbol quite literally and given each sex a latex mask of the actual animal to wear on their head. 6 men and 6 women in 2 groups will perform on Roumelia Lane at designated times, in real time. The performance allows the idea of the stag and hen to interact with the Bournemouth/Boscombe landscape in completely different way but bringing it no closer to actual animals themselves.
